What Is a Regatta?
Strictly speaking, a regatta is a boat race. But many groups do not want a race. They want a shared day at sea with a bit of friendly spirit.
That is why the term is often used more loosely for a multi-boat charter (sometimes called a flotilla). Several boats travel together, follow a similar route and anchor near each other so guests can move between them or meet up for a swim.
You decide which style suits you: a light-hearted competition or a relaxed day out.
Choosing Your Boats
Options include catamarans, sailboats and motor yachts.
Capacity varies by vessel and date, so tell us your guest numbers early and we'll suggest the right combination.
- Catamarans: Good for groups who want stability and space
- Sailboats: A more traditional experience, especially for sailing-minded guests
- Motor yachts: A more premium choice for VIP groups
Timing
Regattas can range from a couple of hours to a full day. Shorter trips suit a quick social outing, while longer ones leave time to swim, eat and relax. Ask us what is available for your date.
Extras
Depending on the day, you might discuss extras such as catering, music or photography. Availability varies, so ask us early.
Safety With Groups
Safety matters more with larger parties.
- Every boat has its own skipper and briefing.
- Guests should follow their own crew's instructions.
- Boats keep a safe distance from each other.
- Nobody should swim near moving vessels.
- The captains can adjust the plan if the weather changes.
